About the Artist

Christine Bulmer Gilley, also a Maine native, has been drawing ever since she could hold a pencil. Though largely a self-taught artist, she studied at Waterville High School under Muriel Ragsdale and is a graduate of Pemetic High School and Famous Artists School in Westport, Conn. She works in pencil, pen and ink, oil, acrylic and watercolor to capture the unique beauty of Maine. Born in Smithfield, Maine, Christine moved to Mt. Desert Island in l95l and is married to a former lobsterman. When she is not gardening or sewing, she can be found in her studio on Seawall Road in Southwest Harbor. Her own scene through a Maine window never fails to inspire her to pick up a brush or a pen and do the work she loves best .Christine's pen and ink sketches may be found at the Oceanarium and at some area gift shops.
